Textures
Lumion Renders:
Overall I've kept the colours neutral, which is the opposite of most of Luis Barragan's work, but similar to how Peter Eisenman uses neautral colors within his work. This gives the station a more solid and less overwhelming sense when looking at it, and as neutral colors suit the UNSW environment more since most buildings have a more neutral colour to it.
The bridge allows passengers to commute conveniently down to or from us, and also allows cars to cross under it. The dark textures on the stairs contrasts the lighter textures on the bridge, giving the stairs a more firm and defined sense. The glass windows on the bridge offers a view of the campus and light rail station so people walking through it won't feel trapped and can take advantage of their surroundings.
The overall shape is unique, as many different quirky shapes and holes are visible. The idea of having shapes and holes all around this station was inspired by Luis Barragan. He uses shape to manipulate light and where it lands, and how much is exposed.
The shaded area within the building leads to the bridge, a hole for passengers to get on and off the lightrail through, and a shaded area with simple block chairs available. The lighter textures that hold up the beams with a darker texture contrasts each other and gives a sense of tidiness.
